GLW is searching for motivated, skilled Cabinet Maker/Assembler to join our Detroit based manufacturing team. Opportunities available at various levels based on skills and experience.

Cabinet Maker/Assembler Responsibilities:

At GLW Carpenters/Cabinet Makers/Assemblers builds products by reading blueprints, following processes and procedures, and utilizing necessary tools and equipment, while maintaining the highest level of quality.

Cabinet Maker/Assembler Job Duties:

a. Build custom Fixtures at a craftsman level

b. Collaborate with engineering team to ensure specifications are accurate

c. Build prototypes of new products

d. Utilize a variety of wood working tools

e. Document instructions for assembly of custom items

f. Follow safety rules, work policies and procedures per training and instruction

g. Support installation of finished fixtures at the Customer location

Assembler Job Requirements:

a. High School Diploma or GED required

b. Trade School (wood working or construction) preferred

c. Must have attention to fine details

d. High level of finishing skills

e. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

f. Good math skills

g. Must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively

h. Ability to travel occasionally to support installs is a plus

i. Physical Effort and Working Conditions:

1) Able to lift 50 lbs

2) Good hand/eye coordination and eyesight (corrected)

3) Regularly required to stand, walk, squat, or bend and use hands and arms to push, pull, reach or grasp 8-10 hours per day, 40-60 hours per week

4) Able to raise or lower up to 50 lb. object from one level to another

5) Employee will regularly work around machinery in operation and be exposed to dust, fumes, and weather conditions (heat/humidity/cold)

Detroit, Michigan | Full-time | $20-25/hr

GLW is looking for a CNC Operator / Machinist to join our panel processing team. The primary job will be operating our CNC Router (pod and rail) to produce wood parts. Additionally, this role will be expected to learn and operate other machinery such as: Edgebander, V-Groover, and Lock Dowel Machine.

Growth opportunities exist to learn to program our CNC machines and well as to learn woodworking skills depending on the candidate’s interests and skills.

Ideal candidate will have:

• Basic Carpentry Skills (some knowledge or woodworking is very helpful)

• Experience running a CNC machine (working with wood high beneficial)

• Be self-motivated to get things done efficiently and correctly

• Solid computer skills for utilizing our ERP & the CNC Router

• Detailed oriented

• Ability to read (or learn to read) shop drawings

• A can-do attitude

Position Summary

The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting and financial reporting functions while serving as a strategic partner to leadership. This role oversees day-to-day finance operations, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, strengthens internal controls, and supports forecasting, cash management, and lender relationships. The ideal candidate is both hands-on and big-picture oriented, with experience in manufacturing or project-based environments.

This is a practical, hands-on Controller role, not a complex enterprise accounting position. Our accounting systems are established and running well (QuickBooks), payroll is handled by an external HR partner, and the business is stable with controlled growth.

The Controller will be the primary owner of accounting accuracy, timely close, and clear financial information to support leadership decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, and variance analyses
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory, WIP, revenue recognition, and cost accounting
  • Maintain strong balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, and documentation

Controls, Policies & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Support audits, reviews, and tax filings; coordinate with external CPA firms

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management

  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital; manage short- and long-term liquidity
  • Support sales forecasting and project-level financial analysis

ERP & Systems

  • Serve as system owner for QuickBooks Online and related financial systems
  • Partner with operations to ensure ERP data integrity and reporting accuracy
  • Support future system enhancements, integrations, and reporting improvements

Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Manage and develop a small accounting team (3 direct reports)
  • Collaborate closely with operations, sales, and ownership to support business decisions
  • Provide clear, actionable financial insights to leadership

Banking, Insurance & Compliance

  • Manage lender relationships, borrowing base reporting, and covenant compliance
  • Support insurance renewals, risk management, and compliance requirements

HR & Payroll Oversight (as applicable)

  • Oversee payroll processing and benefit administration in coordination with outsourced providers

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller roles
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing cost accounting
  • Experience with inventory, WIP, and project-based accounting
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems.
  • Proven ability to operate independently in a lean environment

Preferred

  • CPA or CPA-track
  • Manufacturing or construction-style project accounting experience
  • Experience working directly with owners and senior leadership
