The Colony Club in Detroit was built in 1927 as an elite women’s club. Today, it has been fully restored and repurposed as a commercial venue containing two large ballrooms, smaller event spaces, and corporate offices.

GLW was tasked with engineering the main bar, coffered ceiling and columns, back bar, upholstered wall panels, a leather upholstered banquette, and custom pub tables.

The bars were fabricated from solid walnut and walnut veneers. The coffered ceiling and column trims were fabricated from sapele mahogany veneers to match the existing ceiling in other parts of the club.

The GLW team provided CNC templates to coordinate the inlaid marble floor band to match the bar. We also coordinated the back-of-bar equipment, electrical, and plumbing.

We engineered and installed LED lighting throughout the bar, and uplighting on the back bar.

In the same building, we’ve fabricated and installed 26 mahogany raised panel doors, 3 commercial custom walnut kitchens, and a variety of other table and millwork projects.
